About Slate Creek Counseling

Slate Creek is counseling center with its home base located in Fort Pierre, serving individuals and families throughout central South Dakota. Slate Creek was created in 2005 and named after simple stream that meanders through the central Black Hills, northwest of Hill City, SD. Having a name that wove the natural world into what Slate Creek is about was essential, as nature is the cornerstone of its philosophy on how individuals, societies and the planet as a whole are all interconnected and the source of many of the solutions to our problems.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can be a very helpful tool – either alone or in a combination with other therapies – in treating mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or an eating disorder. But not everyone who benefits from CBT has a mental health condition. CBT can be an effective tool to help anyone learn how to better manage stressful life situations. A therapist using CBT provides a non-judgmental sounding board for an individual to vent frustrations and air out grievances in a safe environment.

Take the first step in the right direction.
